RESTORATION OF 1934 AUSTIN 10/4 CABRIOLET ARA 43
Mainly complet stored in nice dry garage but as spent some time outside
Another picture showing remains of hood
Started dismantling appling oil to every part that should move and every nut, bolt and screw.
At the same time applied wood worm treatment to every piece of wood as it became exsposed as dismantling proceeds.
  Both door panels collapsed into dust with advanced woodworm infestation
WORK BEGINS
Bonnet, Front wings,Kingpins, hubs etc. removed.
  Kingpins removed to allow repair to brake shaft assemblies shown in next picture
All worn parts built back with weld and hand finished to correct contours
Ready to refit
Engine removed and radiator ect. a good clean derusted and painted with several coats of paint to get nice shine
Dismantling engine note sludge in sump
Drilled out broken studs and recut .threads
Removed filler to find extensive rot
Cut back to sound metal ready for repairs. Also part of ash frame removed to make replacement
Made repair panels and welded in position
Engine fully rebuilt and fitted back in chassie
Repaired and painted radiator fitted, hoses connected and filled with water
Welded in repair sections in offside.
  Stripped off paint from offside and started assembling brake linkage
Almost ready for painters
Boot catches fitted
It as been a long wait but it is back from the painters
Started assembly, the petrol tank is fitted, the hood frame is bolted in place
Fitted chrome radiator suround sound proofing etc. and started fitting new loom
Fitted loom and started connecting wires
A bit more assembly, rear lamps have been connected to loom
Front wings fitted, choke cable fitted, petrol in tank, engine run to check out charging circuit ect.
Front seats fitted and some trim
The wings are all fitted with piping, windscreen, side windows, running boards and headlamps fitted

  Note I have coloured pvc to match original leather
The boot is know finished.
  I had to make  the catches from modern ones by welding on extra metal and redrilling to increase hole centres to match covers.
Car is ready for M.O.T. had a lot of problems with brakes, found trouble to be linnings change them and all is well.l 
M.O.T. passed just a few paint faults to sort
The car as been back to painters and all the small problems sorted.
It as had a final polish and is loaded on transporter for its trip back home
